Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is looking for several Class A Port Drivers to join our team. The Port Driver will be responsible for transporting containers to and from the ports of Los Angeles & Long Beach. The ideal candidate will have a valid Commercial Driver's License, a valid TWIC card, and a clean driving record. He/she must be able to lift heavy objects and be comfortable working in all weather conditions. The port driver will be responsible for following all safety regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Transport materials to various destinations, placing special focus on safety, traffic rules and regulations.
  • Accurately fill out paperwork, including: daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports and customer work order tickets.
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by EAP, Inc. or as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
  • Work closely with Operations Supervisor to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Operations Supervisor and Safety team of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Notify Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch and/or Operations Supervisor.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned.
  • Drive trucks to and from port facilities, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Load and unload cargo from trailers, ensuring to adhere to proper lifting techniques.
  • Inspect vehicles for any potential mechanical irregularities/safety issues and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with dispatch to receive instructions and coordinate daily activities.
  • Keep track of hours worked and mileage covered.
  • Report any accidents or incidents IMMEDIATELY.
  • Follow company policies and procedures AT ALL TIMES.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. esta buscando varios choferes de camiones Clase A para unirse a nuestro equipo. Los Choferes del Puerto seran responsables de transportar contenedores hacia y desde los puertos de Los Angeles y Long Beach. Los candidatos ideales tendran una Licencia de Conducir Comercial (Clase A) valida, una tarjeta TWIC valida y un historial de manejo limpio. Debe ser capaz de levantar objetos pesados y sentirse comodo trabajando en todas las condiciones climaticas. Los choferes del puerto seran responsables de seguir todas las regulaciones de seguridad.


Responsabilidades

Transportar materiales a varios destinos, priorizando la seguridad y cumpliendo con las reglas y regulaciones de transito.

Llenar correctamente el papeleo, incluyendo: reportes de viaje diarios, reportes de condicion del vehiculo y ordenes de trabajo de clientes.

Operar el vehiculo de acuerdo con las normas de seguridad de Ecology Auto Parts, Inc., las Reglas Criticas para la Vida, OSHA (Ley de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional) y los requisitos del DOT (Departamento de Transporte), asi como todas las leyes locales, estatales y federales.

Realizar inspecciones previas y posteriores al viaje del vehiculo asignado y documentar las revisiones utilizando el informe estandar DVIR (Informe de Inspeccion del Vehiculo del Chofer).

Informar inmediatamente al Supervisor de Operaciones y/o Despacho sobre cualquier situacion insegura o problema relacionado con el servicio.

Asistir y participar en todos los programas de capacitacion, reuniones informativas y reuniones programadas segun lo requiera Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. o lo indique el Supervisor de Operaciones.

Trabajar en estrecha colaboracion con el Supervisor de Operaciones para mejorar la eficiencia de las rutas e identificar mejores practicas.

Notificar al Supervisor de Operaciones y al equipo de Seguridad sobre cualquier incidente, accidente, lesion o dano a la propiedad.

Informar al Supervisor de Operaciones y/o Despacho sobre interrupciones del servicio, incluyendo contenedores bloqueados, lotes cerrados, calles, callejones o posibles peligros de seguridad.

Comunicar las solicitudes de los clientes al Despacho y/o al Supervisor de Operaciones.

Realizar otras tareas asignadas.

Conducir camiones hacia y desde las instalaciones del puerto, cumpliendo con todas las leyes y regulaciones de transito.

Cargar y descargar carga de los remolques, asegurandose de seguir tecnicas adecuadas de levantamiento.

Inspeccionar los vehiculos en busca de posibles irregularidades mecanicas/problemas de seguridad y realizar mantenimiento preventivo segun sea necesario.

Completar el papeleo requerido de manera precisa y oportuna.

Comunicarse con el despacho para recibir instrucciones y coordinar actividades diarias.

Llevar un registro de las horas trabajadas y el kilometraje recorrido.

Informar de inmediato cualquier accidente o incidente.

Seguir las politicas y procedimientos de la empresa EN TODO MOMENTO.

Mantener un area de trabajo limpia y organizada.


Requirements

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

  • Valid/Current (Class A) Commercial Driver's License REQUIRED
  • Ability to haul 40' - 53' trailers
  • Ability to read and understand a map/GPS
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
  • Ability to drive tractors with manual and automatic transmissions
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Minimum 1 year of previous VERIFIABLE CDL truck driving experience REQUIRED
  • Hazmat endorsement, or willingness to obtain PREFERRED
  • 21 years of age or older REQUIRED
  • Clean MVR with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years REQUIRED
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and DOT drug screening
  • Experience driving a port drayage truck PREFERRED
  • Experience with containerized cargo PREFERRED
  • Forklift certification PREFERRED
  • TWIC card REQUIRED
