We are looking for a Manager, Deployment & Itinerary Planning supporting Seabourn Cruise Lines. The Manager, Deployment & Itinerary Planning will be responsible for providing itineraries for our Expedition and Ocean Fleet by managing the development and rollout of deployment and itineraries for all marketing products and ships. Design and develop new itineraries, as prescribed by the Senior Director and Leadership, for deployment purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill the goal of providing itineraries, one of the 5 key areas outlined in the Company Profile.
  • Create compelling itineraries with particular emphasis on commercial profitability, safety, operational feasibility, and operating cost efficiency - and with a specific focus on Expedition itinerary planning
  • Assist in fuel conservation efforts related to deployment & itinerary planning, including calculation and analysis of fleet fuel consumption data.
  • Develop new itineraries, as prescribed by the Senior Director and VP Expeditions, and offer critical support to the Charter & Incentives department.
  • Research existing and potential destinations, including all technical & nautical aspects, marketing prospects, guest experience, and costs, with an emphasis on Expedition locations.
  • Responsible for performing port assessment in collaboration with Marine Operations and Port Operations and completing approval processes for all new Seabourn destinations.
  • Attend committee meetings and planning meetings as needed to fulfill this role.
  • Manage all aspects of Deployment & Itinerary planning data including mission-critical systems such as MXP.
  • Manage all Deployment & Itinerary planning communications.
  • Manage the development, introduction and implementation of Deployment & Itinerary planning technology and innovation.
  • Create new business process.
  • Attend conferences and forums as a representative of Seabourn Cruise Lines as needed to develop and fulfill this role (some travel required).
  • Provide deployment optimization methodologies utilizing forecasting tools such as DPM. Create compelling itineraries with particular emphasis on commercial profitability, safety, operational feasibility and operating cost efficiency. Design and develop new itineraries, as prescribed by the Director, for deployment purposes and in order to resolve unexpected problems and situations that occur on a day-to-day basis.

  • Fuel Conservation: Assist in fuel conservation efforts by analyzing fleet fuel consumption data and implementing strategies to reduce costs.
  • Deployment Optimization: Utilize forecasting tools to optimize deployment methodologies, enhancing the overall efficiency of the fleet.
  • Technology and Innovation: Manage the development and implementation of new technologies and innovations in deployment and itinerary planning.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the Deployment and Itinerary Planning Matter Expert within the company and the industry, providing guidance and support to various departments.
  • Communication: Manage deployment and itinerary planning communications, including postings on eFleet, and effectively communicate with both shoreside and shipboard personnel.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with both shoreside and shipboard teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of itineraries.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Navigation and/or Nautical Engineering.
  • Licensed navigational officer (All Ships).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience as a senior navigation officer, preferably on a Seabourn Cruise Line or Holland America Line vessel.
  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A thorough understanding of cruise destinations. The ability to evaluate a destination's qualification from multiple perspectives and disciplines.
  • Skilled in the usage of nautical (planning) software and hardware, such as Transas and MXP.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and the ability to be persuasive.
  • Ability and confidence to speak to large audiences.
  • Excellent computer skills, advanced proficiency in Excel (formulaic).
  • Strong organizational and management skills with attention to detail.

Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Holland America office Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays.

  • Base Salary Range: $89,600 to $121,000. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
