Job description

About the Position

Trailer drivers can expect to have consistent year-round work with a minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime potential. These drivers will be going to various warehouses in the NY/NJ area to pick up materials.

Work Hours and Location:

  • Start time for the shift ranges anywhere from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM.
  • Candidates must have weekend availability throughout the year as a part of their regular schedule, as occasional weekend shifts are an essential aspect of this position. Flexibility to work additional hours, including holidays, may also be required based on the needs of the business.
  • The reporting location for this position is Brentwood, NY.

Position Overview:

  • Pick up and deliver materials to and from various warehouses.
  • Occasionally deliver materials to customer sites.
  • Maintain driver logs and complete pre and post-trip inspections as per DOT.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues.
  • Follow all company operational procedures.
  • Accurately follow paperwork procedures and execute crash management duties.
  • Protect the company's assets by maintaining organized, safe, and clean vehicles while always complying with the company's safety and security standards.
  • Utilization of flashers and warning devices in accordance with laws, regulations, accepted industry practices, and company policy.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements particular to the equipment, including DOT safety regulations.
  • Immediately report accidents, equipment malfunctions, and DMV or traffic violations.
  • Ensure cargo is secured properly and in compliance with safety requirements.
  • Keep all company vehicles and equipment in good condition.
  • Control, protect, and maintain truck's inventory and equipment.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Follow delivery/pickup instructions from dispatcher and manager.
  • Assist in loading and unloading truck.
  • Active CDL A License.
  • Experience in commercial driving for delivery.
  • Strong attention to detail regarding safety measures.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, managers and clients in a professional manner.
