Position Summary

The Pool Server is a front-of-house service professional responsible for delivering attentive, friendly, and efficient service in an outdoor poolside environment. This role requires strong service fundamentals, the ability to work in a fast-paced setting, and comfort operating in varying outdoor conditions.

The ideal candidate has prior serving experience and is comfortable providing food and beverage service in a luxury resort pool environment. Pool Servers must maintain professionalism and positive energy while working outdoors in heat, humidity, and changing weather conditions, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for guests throughout the day.

Essential Functions

Guest Experience & Poolside Service

  • Greet guests promptly and courteously at poolside seating areas, cabanas, and loungers.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and provide clear explanations of menu items, daily specials, and featured cocktails.
  • Maintain a visible, attentive presence throughout the pool area, anticipating guest needs and responding promptly.
  • Deliver food and beverages accurately and efficiently to poolside locations, ensuring proper presentation and safety.
  • Replenish beverages and check in with guests regularly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Present dessert and specialty beverage options when applicable.
  • Thank guests and provide a positive final impression at the conclusion of service.

Order Management & POS Execution

  • Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar to support timely service.
  • Retrieve completed orders, verify accuracy and presentation, and deliver promptly to guests.
  • Process guest checks accurately and in accordance with resort procedures.

Outdoor Operations & Service Awareness

  • Work efficiently in outdoor conditions, including occasional heat, sun exposure, humidity, and rain.
  • Adapt service flows to changing pool activity, guest movement, and seating arrangements.
  • Maintain awareness of safety considerations related to wet surfaces, high temperatures, and pool operations.
  • Adjust service pacing to align with guest activity levels throughout the day.

Service Standards & Team Support

  • Follow established steps of service and poolside service standards.
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and company alcohol service regulations, including ID verification and responsible service practices.
  • Maintain a professional, composed, and guest-focused demeanor during high-volume periods.
  • Support bartenders, server assistants, and management to ensure smooth service flow.

Station Readiness & Side Work

  • Check assigned sections before, during, and after shifts for cleanliness, organization, and readiness.
  • Perform opening, running, and closing side work, including restocking supplies and maintaining service areas.
  • Assist with clearing and resetting tables, loungers, and cabana areas as needed.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using approved cleaning products to maintain health and safety standards.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall pool operations.

Internal Relationships

  • Reports to the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Works closely with Bartenders, Server Assistants, Culinary, Pool Operations, and Restaurant Management.

External Relationships

  • Has regular direct interaction with resort guests and members.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards and guest relations.
  • Working knowledge of menu items, cocktails, and poolside offerings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English to explain menu items and record orders.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Ability to transport trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through poolside service areas.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working in outdoor conditions.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of prior serving experience preferred; resort or outdoor service experience a plus.
  • Must obtain and maintain any required licenses or certifications as applicable.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
