Location Indianapolis and surrounding areas (on-site at senior living communities and community
centers with pools)
Reports To Franchise Owner / Fitness Program Manager
Company Live 2 B Healthy Indianapolis
Employment Type Independent Contractor (1099)
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
At Live 2 B Healthy Indianapolis, we believe that growing older should never mean giving up
strength, confidence, or independence. The water is one of the most powerful tools we have: its
buoyancy supports the joints, eases pain, and gives older adults the freedom to move in ways
that can feel difficult on land. Every class you lead helps a senior move more freely, build
strength, and stay connected to the people and activities they love.
OUR MISSION
To deliver exceptional senior fitness and aquatic exercise programming that improves the
health, confidence, and independence of older adults in our community while building a
supportive workplace where our instructors are developed, valued, and empowered to
achieve their own goals.
POSITION SUMMARY
Aqua Fitness Instructors bring the Live 2 B Healthy program to the water, delivering safe,
effective, and engaging group aquatic fitness classes for older adults in senior living
communities and community centers with pools. Instructors also provide individualized attention
through private one-on-one and small group water-based sessions. This role requires a passion
for helping seniors stay active, with a strong commitment to program quality, safety, and
participant progress.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Group Aqua Fitness Classes. Conduct scheduled on-site water fitness classes
tailored to the needs and abilities of older adults, using the buoyancy and gentle resistance
of water to support low-impact cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility, and range of
motion.
Private & Small Group Aquatic Training. Deliver personalized one-on-one and small
group water-based sessions with residents based on their individual goals and abilities,
following approved programming and documentation protocols.
Ensure Safety In and Around the Pool. Monitor participants closely to ensure exercises
are performed safely and effectively in the water. Maintain awareness of pool conditions,
safe entry and exit, and emergency procedures, and modify activities as needed to support
all fitness and comfort levels.
Build Positive Relationships. Create a motivating, respectful, and inclusive environment.
Establish trust and rapport with residents, staff, and community decision-makers.
Follow Program Guidelines. Adhere to all Live 2 B Healthy protocols and curriculum
standards, as well as facility pool rules, for all formats of training (group, small group, and
private).
Communication & Reporting. Accurately report attendance, session feedback, and client
notes to the Fitness Program Manager. Communicate class concerns, pool issues, or
scheduling changes in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

Current CPR/AED certification (REQUIRED)

Comfortable leading exercise in and around the water, with a working awareness of pool

Aquatic fitness certification (e.g., AEA Aquatic Fitness Professional) or an equivalent water based exercise credential
Previous experience teaching aqua aerobics, water-based exercise, or aquatic therapy
Background in working with seniors or within senior living communities
Understanding of age-related conditions and how to safely modify exercises for the water
