Full Time Permanent Pool / Spa / Sauna - Wellness Technician

The Opportunity:
As a full-time pool-spa-sauna-technician, you will help us with our pool opens, pool closes, pool maintenance, remodels/upgrade projects, liner installs, spa opens, spa maintenance and servicing pool equipment and pools. You must have a MINIMUM of 3 years experience servicing pools and be able to lead a seasonal tech as a service van leader. Your additional responsibilities at times will be to assist the liner/repair teams with possibly fixing leaks (pools/spas), helping replace liners (pools), upgrading pool equipment and pools in general (tear out, replacement installation, upgrades). All needed tools, equipment and supplies as well as company vehicle to drive for work are provided.

During the winter season, we will work through warehouse, inventory, tradeshow set up and tear down. Other duties include ongoing regular servicing of pools, delivering/installing/repairing pool,hot tub & sauna equipment, and being part of delivery of hot tubs, saunas, and equipment to client sites. At times you will help support our store with inventory counting, show and event support.

You must be proactive, take pride in doing a good job, focus on the positives, be a team player, be proactive, be able to keep themselves busy, want to expand their knowledge base, be willing to do whatever the company needs at times. There will be overtime during needed times, especially from May 1st through Oct 15th but we do try to avoid Saturdays unless voluntary during this period.

Duties:

  • Make sure work is as mistake-free as possible and communicate any potential issues while performing work as efficiently as possible
  • You will lead a service “van” and have a seasonal that accompanies you as a helper.
  • You will communicate to customers when you are on your way, when you arrive on site (by knocking on the door) and when you are leaving their premise
  • Update “pool brain” with pictures while onsite through phone which is a our service ticketing system and main communication tool about our jobs and with customers
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on swimming pools and related equipment such as clean and maintain pool filters, pumps, and heaters
  • Support our remodeling of pools projects and efforts as labor and help with equipment and installation
  • Be part of pool openings and season ending closings with installation safety covers, tarp/tubing and properly starting up and shutting down pool and spa equipment
  • Test water chemistry and adjust chemical levels as needed for openings and service calls.
  • Vacuum, skim, and brush pool surfaces to remove debris, making sure everything is clean
  • Inspect and repair pool equipment such as valves, pipes, and fittings as needed and as part of our team. (Some training will be provided)
  • Work with Service and Sales/Construction teams to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pool and spa systems
  • Be able to help with pool liner installs, some pool remodel projects and helping out where needed
  • We have just added saunas and you will assist with delivery and set up and possibly service for those.
  • Work on Spa repairs on customer premises and in our shop, especially during the winter months
  • Support retail store in down time with customers, products, accessories, inventory, etc
  • Training will be provided for most work you will do but this person HAS PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE of 3+ years. We expect you to ask if you don’t know something so training can be provided. Do not ignore something because you do not know.
  • Some overtime is to be expected as we must finish the job we are on sometimes before we can leave at the end of the day. Our days to not have a hard stop deadline, it makes sense to finish the job we are on
  • Communication to management if running behind asap so we can move other jobs around to help avoid late hours is required as well has help other service teams who made need it if you get done early
  • Hours are 8am-5pm for the most part outside of overtime.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns as they arise
  • Professionalism, positive and can-do attitudes are a must
  • Company trucks/vans and tools are provided for travel to customer sites and work you will be performing
  • You should dress appropriately and several items are provided by Polynesian for that

Skills:

  • MINIMUM of 3 years pool servicing and repair experience to be considered.
  • Take ownership of what you do - research and seek answers and ask when you cannot find on your own
  • You will “lead” your van and have a seasonal employee that works “for” you during pool season
  • All necessary tools and a vehicle to use while working will be provided
  • Basic email, calendar management, phone, and organizational skills are needed
  • Solid communication skills to describe to customer work performed and to supervisor any issues that need attention or help as well as interact with customer in a professional manner
  • Must be able to follow a list and ensure accuracy of what things you are tasked with grabbing for your daily vehicle and taking to job sites
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles (valid drivers license without restrictions)
  • Prior pool, spa, construction, service, plumbing experience is REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in pool maintenance and repair are a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and ability resolve issues with pool equipment with training
  • Attention to detail to ensure proper water chemistry levels for pools and spas
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively without micromanagement
  • Solid communication skills to interact with customers in a professional manner
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

We pay between $22-$25 per hour based on previous experience with pools, spas, saunas, plumbing and construction. Some overtime is standard from May through October.
