Job description

Beloit Health System is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Beloit Memorial Hospital in our Inpatient Float Pool.
  • Shift: 1st
  • Schedule: 7a-7p

We are currently seeking a dedicated and adaptable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Hospital Float Pool. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide patient care across a variety of clinical units, contributing to high-quality outcomes while expanding your professional experience.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Float Pool assists the Registered Nurse to plan, coordinate, supervise and provide safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients throughout their lifespan in accordance with established standards and organizational policies. This position requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to quickly acclimate to different patient care environments.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will:
  • Makes effective contributions to RN initiated ongoing assessments.
  • Organizes assessment data so they are accurate, complete and accessible.
  • Follows nursing care plans and observes established policies and procedures to assure proper treatment and care of patients; initiates and records patient treatments in an accurate and precise manner; documents nursing actions taken and their effectiveness in nurse's notes or flow sheets.
  • Recognizes significant behavioral and physiological changes and documents them and informs the registered nurse of significant patient care changes.
  • Ensures patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protects patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Safely administers oral, enteral, PR, and topical medications.
  • Makes contributions to patient and family teaching through the involvement of the family and significant others; documents patient and family teaching activities.
  • Utilizes sound judgment in responding to patient emergency situations.

Job Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited NLN LPN school of nursing and active Wisconsin LPN licensure.
  • CPR certified or certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Completion of Beloit Health System telemetry course/test within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
