Join the Jalapeno Tree family and become a part of the Pepper Posse! At the Jalapeno Tree, we are passionate about delivering Crazy Good Mexican Food in a family-friendly atmosphere. We are seeking energetic, motivated individuals who are dedicated to exceptional guest experiences, high-quality ingredients, and exemplary service. As a host/hostess, you are the first point of contact for guests. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing waitlists, and accurately quoting wait times.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Warmly welcome guests as they arrive, creating a positive first impression. Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
  • Answer incoming phone calls; take and fill to-go and curbside orders; clean, organize and stock menus; and perform other assigned side work.
  • Track table status and manage the seating chart, to ensure efficient and balanced table assignments. Coordinate with servers and bussers to optimize table turnover and minimize wait times.
  • Take names and phone numbers for the waiting list and quote accurate wait times to guests when tables are not immediately available.
  • Clearly communicate wait times and manage guest expectations. Provide updates as needed and ensure guests are informed of any changes.
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally. Provide information about the menu and specials as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized host/hostess station. Ensure that the waiting area and entrance are tidy and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. Relay any special requests or issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues with empathy and efficiency, escalating to management if necessary.

  • Qualifications:
    • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Basic mathematic skills and ability to handle cash and operate a POS system accurately.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
    • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Certifications:
    • Texas Food Handlers Certification.

    • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, move at a rapid pace, bend, twist, and lift products weighing up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a host/hostess or in a customer service role is preferred but not required
