Our Fountain Maintenance & Installation Specialist is a critical contributor to providing our customers with quality service. There is a family dynamic at The Pond Guy that extends to the customer as we strive to give them the highest quality service possible.

Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.

  • Complete service calls for customers regarding their pond/lake equipment and lead installations of complete systems
  • Prepare and modify pond sites for equipment installation, including excavation, landscaping, and structural/electrical adjustments, utilizing heavy machinery when required
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of their pond systems, required maintenance, issues encountered, resolve customer concerns regarding service calls and installations, selling solutions that align with their pond goals
  • Electronically complete service notes, including work orders/inventory used at visit, and communicate repair trends to quality
  • Perform vehicle, equipment, inventory, shop audits; verify checklists to ensure proper cleaning and storage procedures are being followed before and after routes and address concerns found
  • Follow and enforce all safety procedures regarding products, install equipment, service equipment, electrical knowledge, and safety devices
  • Maintain a high level of communication with service office staff to ensure customer satisfaction and daily routing effectiveness
  • Plan, schedule and manage efficient daily routes for yourself and assigned crews
  • Support a continuous learning environment by being cross-trained and executing on all service-related positions
  • Track service activity and communicate operational trends and improvement opportunities to management
  • Maintain professionalism while on-site and in the field representing The Pond Guy
  • Ensure shop cleanliness is maintained and complete grounds maintenance/general building maintenance as required

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:

  • 5 years of technical and mechanical maintenance background is required
  • 5 years of electrical experience, 2-3 years working with high voltage is required
  • 3-5 years of leading crews, projects, or field teams required
  • Proficient computer knowledge is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a truck and trailer will be required after training
  • 3-5 years of customer service and sales experience recommended
  • Experience operating heavy machinery a plus
  • Knowledge of basic pond management as well as fish and wildlife health behaviors is a plus
  • Crosstrain on pond management by obtaining state certification as a chemical applicator

Because this position provides a variety of tasks, the physical requirements are required for both an in-office and in-the-field environment. This position also requires the ability to swim, perform repetitive motions for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity when working with small components; frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long durations; lift, lower, and carry packages typically weighing 25–50 lbs; and handle packages up to 150 lbs with assistance. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances.

We need a Fountain Maintenance & Installation Specialist that has a positive attitude, and the words “can’t” and “impossible” are not a part of your vocabulary. You'll need the ability to learn quickly and retain a large amount of information and offer exceptional customer service. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks.

Availability

While this is a year-round position, during the months of April – September, there will be opportunities for extended work schedules, and you must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday. This equates to an average of 40-50 hours per week. During peak season there are little to no Saturdays. The remaining months will have a Monday-Friday schedule.
