Job Summary:
Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all mechanical equipment in a chemical plant that operates on a 24 hour / 7 day schedule. Rotating on-call status will be expected as will working night or weekend shifts.
Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all chemical plant mechanical equipment. The mechanical equipment includes pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, air diaphragm, etc.), agitators, fans, blowers, mechanical seals and sealing devices (packing, etc.) associated with this equipment. Install and modify existing and new piping systems and lines, including valves, vessels, filters, exchangers (assembly and disassembly) and equipment setting and alignment. Structural, construction, painting, concrete, insulation and light sheet metal work, etc. may also be required.
Learn proper methods for equipment and safety inspections. Inspect equipment for defects and record all repairs in the CMMS system. Write and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
Become familiar with relevant maintenance department SOPs. Learn the plant processes and hazards associated with them. Be safety conscious and follow the plant safety policies and procedures (e.g. fall protection, lock out tag out, hot work, confined space). Become familiar with the proper PPE task requirements.
Actively participate in safety committee, near miss reporting, incident investigations, and safety housekeeping inspections. Complete and initiate the proper documentation of work orders in the SAP system.
Knowledge and Skills: Specialized knowledge and skills needed to perform the job.
Physical Abilities: 1) Pass a routine physical examination and drug test. 2) Lift and control a minimum of 50-pound load from floor level to standing position. 3) Regularly walk, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, etc. both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
Equipment Skills: 1) Operate power tools such as a drill press, band saw, grinders, etc. 2) Operate torches, welders, cutters, etc. 3) Operate plant vehicles, such as forklift and boom lift. 4) Operate basic hand tools, measurement and test equipment.
Personal Skills: 1) Self motivated, quality and safety conscious individual. 2) Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written, and read and follow instructions with minimal supervision. 3) Excellent interpersonal skills and the willingness to learn from and train others.
Education: Education, licenses, certifications or degrees needed to perform the job.
High school diploma or equivalent level as a minimum education. Additional course work, technical training, apprenticeship, etc, is desirable.
Pay: $39 per hour
