Job description

Overview

Element has an immediate opening for a Polymer Engineer with experience in Failure Analysis.  This position is for Element's New Berlin location in order to continue our growth and continue to deliver unparalleled polymer engineering services to our clients - from standard materials testing to complex materials analysis and failure investigations.

Salary: $90,000 -$130,000/year DOE

Responsibilities
  • Managing and executing projects designed to assist client companies in all facets of polymer and rubber materials usage in all fields of application
  • Directing and/or performing testing as required to support the investigation of polymer related projects
  • Assisting in client support and business development as well as marketing activities
  • Primary markets include automotive, transportation, power generation, medical devices, aerospace, defense, oil & gas and consumer products
  • Project work could also involve serving as an expert witness in projects related to the insurance industry and/or litigation matters
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in a Polymer related field such as Materials Science, Chemistry with focus on polymers or polymer engineering
  • Experience in polymeric materials analysis and failure analysis is required as is a working understanding of analytical tests such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, GC/MS, TMA, DMA, etc
  • Ability to operate and function within a team, drawing on other expertise where required
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different workloads and roles within the company

NOTE:  This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
