Poly Pipe Fusion Technician
Position Summary

Operate fusion equipment and provide technical services to install Polyethylene pipe. This
position is responsible for possessing great technical and customer service skills and installing
pipe efficiently, safely and on schedule

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare for jobs in regards to equipment, transportation equipment, etc.
• Cut and fuse polyethylene pipe (butt, socket, sidewall fusion and electro-fusion)
• Inspect welds and pipes and all fittings before and after welds
• Provide technical support for customers
• Provide solutions and options for customers and contractors through suggestive selling of
products and services
• Work on and maintain machines and equipment in the field if necessary
• Maintain knowledge of electro-fusion process, welding machines (smallest to largest), data
logger, and all the HDPE fusion processes
• Responsible for maintaining assigned vehicle and trailer
• Maintain a safety-oriented attitude
• Assist in warehouse with shipping and receiving functions; operate fork lift as needed
• Make general deliveries as needed
• Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow
me to proceed alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is
reviewed upon completion

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Levels

LEVEL 1
• Straight line fusion of 8” diameter or less on above grade installations
LEVEL 2
• Straight line fusion of up to 18” diameter and basic fitting on above grade installations
LEVEL 3
• All fittings and fabrications, all diameters, in ditch work, electro-fusions and extrusion welding
• Must read isometrics.
• Able to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Mechanically inclined for light maintenance work on equipment
High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years previous experience operating 1 ton trucks with up to 48ft gooseneck trailers
• Knowledge of polyethylene pipe and fusion equipment is a plus
• Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and a clean driving record
Pay $23-$28/hr plus travel expenses
