Job Summary
This position provides unit supervision, technical and administrative management, and guidance to staff in the Solid Waste Permit Unit. This position is responsible for ensuring that the solid waste program and relevant program procedures are effectively and efficiently administered in accordance with established technical standards, and that work is completed in an effective and timely manner. Determine current and long-range needs and the recommended alternatives courses of action to the solid waste management system in Minnesota. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to support and assist the Section Manager in meeting the section’s and division’s goals and objectives. The incumbent is expected to be an active and positive member of the agency’s Leadership Team.
All MPCA Leaders are expected to demonstrate and develop competency themes from the Leadership Competency Model.

Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements:
A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check.
Requires a Class D driver´s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
