How much do pollination jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 18, 2026, the average yearly pay for pollination in the United States is $50,508.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $38,000.00 and $70,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is pollination?

A pollination job typically involves facilitating the transfer of pollen between flowers to aid in plant reproduction. This can be done manually by workers in agricultural or greenhouse settings or managed through beekeeping and insect pollination services. Workers may hand-pollinate crops, manage bee colonies, or monitor pollinator health. These jobs are essential for improving crop yield and ensuring plant biodiversity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the pollination position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a pollination technician role, you need a solid understanding of plant biology, agricultural practices, and experience working with crops or bees, often supported by a degree or relevant field training. Proficiency with pollination tools, such as hand brushes, pollen applicators, and tracking systems, is important, and some employers may require pesticide handling certification. Attention to detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are vital soft skills. These qualifications ensure accurate and efficient pollination processes, directly contributing to successful crop yields and farm productivity.

What does a typical workday look like for a pollination technician?

As a pollination technician, your day usually involves preparing pollination materials, manually transferring pollen between plants, and carefully recording data on plant health and pollination success. Much of the work takes place outdoors or in greenhouses, often requiring close collaboration with plant breeders, lead agronomists, and other technicians. Daily responsibilities may also include monitoring environmental conditions, maintaining equipment, and inspecting crops for disease or growth issues. The role can be physically demanding and may require seasonal flexibility, but it offers hands-on experience in agricultural science and the opportunity to make a direct impact on crop development.
