Job description

The Columbus Regional Field Director works to recruit, hire, train and retain field canvass staff. Ensures that the field canvass effectively communicates organization's public campaigns, electoral campaigns, conveys and converts political action requests, and meets individual office goals for the organization. Manages all elements of OCA's door-to-door direct voter work and organizing strategy for their region and works closely with the Campaigns Team to develop campaign messaging and materials, strategically choose canvas turf, and execute political action tactics.


Role Responsibilities:

Recruit, hire, train and retain field canvass staff.

Work with the Campaigns Team in developing campaign messaging, materials and appropriate turf to meet mission goals.

Provide Field Staff with timely campaign updates and information; regularly retrain and evaluate team members to ensure a high-performing team.

Orchestrate methods to provide campaign deliverables, including achieving political action goals, membership recruitment and retention, and fundraising standards.

Communicate effectively with Ohio municipal representatives to ensure safe canvassing, as needed.

Organize and schedule regular informational briefings for the Field Staff; work with the Phone Canvass Director to share briefing opportunities when possible.

Recruit candidates and conduct Field Manager training as necessary.

Meet specific fiduciary responsibilities and manage expenses in accordance with the Field Canvass budget; ensure timely submission and reporting of expenditures.

Follow all administrative systems associated with running the Field Canvass operation.

Keep up-to-date Field training materials.

Participate in the organization's information sharing and decision-making process in an effective, assertive, and professional manner.

Participate in field canvassing efforts, organizing members, political actions, and fundraising.

Conduct work in a manner that consistently aligns with OCA's core values.

Other duties as assigned.


Key Qualifications:

1+ years experience in door-to-door political campaign and/or fundraising work.

1+ years experience in managing and training field canvassers.

Track record of successful member and political action organizing.

Experience with NGP VAN and miniVAN software.

Experience writing and/or executing field campaign plans.

Consistent history of meeting fundraising objectives.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Experience training, scheduling and managing Field crews, and holding them accountable to organizational processes and performance standards.

Ability to communicate and inspire commitment to Ohio Citizen Action's mission and goals.

Able to work within the regional canvass office.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills.

Able to lift up to 30lbs

Able to be on your feet/walk for extended periods of time

Valid Driver's License - Required

Valid Vehicle Insurance - Required

Reliable Transportation - Required
