This position is responsible for the development and execution of Travere Therapeutics' federal and state policy strategies across current and future therapeutic area franchises. The position provides strategic policy leadership, informs enterprise positioning, represents the company with external stakeholders to shape the rare disease policy environment, and serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This position reports to the Vice President, Government Affairs and Policy and is remote based.
Responsibilities:
  • Drives the development and implementation of proactive policy strategies that align with, advance, and protect Travere Therapeutics' reputation, business goals and success.
  • Translate emerging policy trends into actionable insights and recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders. Designs and leads implementation of identified strategic plans to address policy threats and opportunities in issue areas related to rare disease drug development, therapeutic areas related to diagnosis, treatment and access; and other issues as assigned.
  • Develops Travere Therapeutics' position on major issues by federal and state lawmakers and related health agencies. In collaboration with Government Affairs and Policy colleagues, monitor and analyze federal and state legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting Travere. Prepare meeting materials, policy briefs, and internal strategy documents.
  • Develop executive-level briefing materials, policy analyses, stakeholder engagement resources, and strategic planning documents to support informed decision-making and advocacy efforts.
  • Plays an important role in building and maintaining strong working relationships with select key external stakeholders, including but not limited to federal and state legislators, HHS (including CMS) and other Executive Branch agencies, the Administration, think tanks, and other third parties.
  • Aligns direction and prioritization for the organization's policy activities within the broader Corporate Affairs strategy
  • Leads engagement with state policymakers, state agencies, and other key stakeholders in partnership with the Director, Government Affairs and Policy, coordinating enterprise advocacy strategies and policy priorities.
  • Collaborates closely with Corporate Affairs colleagues, as well as with internal stakeholders, including Patient Advocacy and Commercial.
  • Responsible for interfacing with both professional and patient groups involved with activities related to rare diseases.
  • Establishes strategic goals, success metrics, and operational priorities for assigned policy initiatives and monitors progress against organizational objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related discipline. Advanced degree a plus. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, health policy, or pharmaceutical policy, including demonstrated leadership of complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in rare disease and/or the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Background in health policy; expertise in rare disease preferred.

Target Base Pay Range:
$150,000.00 - $195,000.00
