Schedule: ย Mon-Fri, 11pm-7am

Salary: $19.00/hr.ย

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree preferred. Equivalent Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Credentials: NY State Security Guard Registration required. Valid and clean NYS Driver's License preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard.


About the role:

Under general supervision, ensures the safety and security of employees, clients and visitors to the Agency. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required.ย 
  • Patrols assigned area to ensure protection of clients, visitors, property and equipment.ย ย 
  • Controls and monitors access ingress and egress out of assigned site and monitors burglar and fire alarm systems as required.ย ย 
  • Manages program parking location, alerting to unauthorized use and working with towing contract agencies.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; uses agency keys to open and close buildings; monitors closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.ย 
  • Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.ย 
  • Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required in accordance with department standards.ย 
  • Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate; may confront and detain violators, as required, until police arrive.ย 
  • Provides back up to the receptionist including directs incoming calls to appropriate persons and acknowledges and welcomes all in reception area.
  • Participates in staff and department meetings as required.
  • Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge through reading, workshops, and conferences. ย 
  • Awareness of and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainingsย 
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.ย 
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
