We need someone with a proven track record of delivering fast‑paced stories on the West Coast while adhering to the highest journalistic standards of sourcing and accuracy. They need a network of industry contacts and a deep understanding of California and what Angelenos really care about in the entertainment space.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing and develop new industry contacts.
  • Attend daily Page Six Exclusives and California Post meetings to identify source opportunities, troubleshoot reporting challenges, and refine news strategy in real time.
  • Work closely with New York and California newsrooms to drive original reporting and break exclusives.
  • Ensure exclusive story efforts are tightly aligned with broader news priorities and coverage plans of Page Six and the California Post.
  • Contribute to the broader growth of Page Six and the California Post by increasing editorial authority and reputation.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A minimum of 7 years professional experience in entertainment journalism, with significant success breaking news and developing sources.
  • Strong experience leading teams during breaking news situations and advancing stories through diverse sourcing and follow‑up reporting.
  • A strong understanding of journalistic ethics and the legal standards governing reporting, including source protection, libel and defamation, and responsible handling of sensitive stories.
  • Exceptional news judgment with a deep knowledge of the key players in the entertainment industry on the West Coast.
  • Extensive experience breaking timely and accurate court and legal updates as well as a thorough knowledge of requesting police reports, mug shots, body‑camera footage, court filings, and financial, business and real estate records to support exclusive reporting.
  • A leadership style that sets a high bar for performance and accountability, leads by example, and fosters an environment where reporters are supported, challenged, and consistently producing standout work.
  • Strong editing and fact‑checking skills, with meticulous attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • An extensive contacts book.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure newsroom environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Consistent delivery of agenda‑setting exclusives that lead coverage across the entertainment news cycle and help differentiate Page Six and the California Post from their competitors.
  • A measurable contribution to Page Six’s brand growth, audience engagement, and reputation as a market leader in entertainment news.
  • Contribution to significant audience growth in the Californian market.

Note: This role will be expected to report into our California office 5 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).
