Job description

ABOUT THIS POSITION
The mission of the Phoenix Police Department is to build and foster strong relationships with the community through our outreach and engagement, while adhering to the highest standards and traditions of the Phoenix Police Department. The Phoenix Police Department is seeking a Police Property Technicians coordinate the receipt, storage, and release of property and evidence impounded by the Police Department or other law enforcement agencies. Responsibilities include providing customer service to citizens and law enforcement personnel and safeguarding evidence through the chain of custody with the highest degree of integrity. This is done through the tracking and retrieval of items in an efficient, secure, and accurate manner utilizing the proper methods, equipment and technology to maintain the integrity of the items entrusted in the department's care. Work is conducted in a 60,000-sq. ft. high security warehouse containing approximately 2.1 million pieces of evidence and processes over 50,000 items monthly.
Work Location: 100 E Elwood St., Property Management Bureau
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Basic computer skills.

SALARY
Pay Range: $20.51 to $31.82 per hour.
Hiring Range: $20.51 to $30.31 per hour.

  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 339. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two years of experience in warehousing, inventory control or working in a law enforcement agency or high security environment.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here .
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • By the end of the one year probationary period, must be certified as a Level B Terminal Operator by the Department of Public Safety, Arizona Criminal Justice Information Systems (ACJIS) Division
  • Customer service experience.
  • Warehouse experience.
  • Forklift certification.
