Job description

ABOUT THIS POSITION
Apply for this job if you are AZPOST Certified OR if you are a sworn peace officer outside the State of Arizona with at least one year of experience.
The Phoenix Police Department is offering a $7,500 hiring bonus to new Police Officer/ Peace Officers. This bonus will be paid in two equal installments as follows: on your check after swearing in as a Phoenix Police Officer and on your check following successful completion of probation. In addition, if you are referred to apply by a current city employee, that city employee may receive a bonus of $2,500 when you have successfully been hired and passed probation. The name of the referring city employee and employee ID must be specified on the job application at time of submission in order for the payments to be awarded. SALARY
Pay Range: $36.46 - $52.87 hourly / $75,847.20 - $109,984.16 annually.
Hiring Range: $36.46 - $48.17 hourly / $75,847.20 - $100,193.60 annually.
The above comprehensive benefits package, plus:
  • Police Officers who meet performance standards are eligible for annual merit step increases at approximately 5% to a current maximum base pay of $51.84 hourly, $107,827 annually.
  • Bilingual incentive pay and productivity enhancement pay available for qualified officers.
  • Nightshift/weekend differential pay available.
  • Compensatory time buy back option.
  • Paid court overtime.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Arizona applicants must have an Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) certification and be in good standing.
  • Applicants certified in another state other than Arizona, must have at least one full year of experience as a first responder (excluding academy, administrative and training assignments, or jail detention officer duties).
  • This is a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week operation. Employees are required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Vacation and shift assignments are determined by seniority.
  • Requires walking for prolonged periods which may include walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Requires working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
