Position Title: Sales & Events ManagerDepartment: Union Station Sales & EventsReports To:  Cameron Schoeffel Date Written/Revised: 8/6/26 Sales Manager – Group Sales & Special Events St. Louis Aquarium & WheelPark at Union StationPosition Summary The Sales Manager drives revenue growth by selling group tickets, birthday party packages, and seasonal special events (including the Polar Express train ride) for the Aquarium and WheelPark. This role builds relationships with schools, corporate groups, tour operators, and families to maximize attendance and repeat business.Key Responsibilities Sell and coordinate group ticket packages for schools, camps, corporate groups, and tour operatorsManage birthday party bookings from inquiry through event day, including logistics and guest communicationDrive ticket sales for seasonal special events such as the Polar Express train ride, coordinating with operations and marketingBuild and maintain a pipeline of repeat group and event businessRespond promptly to inbound sales inquiries via phone, email, and webPrepare proposals, contracts, and invoices for group and event bookingsTrack sales performance against revenue goals and report to leadershipCollaborate with marketing on promotions for group sales and eventsMaintain accurate records in CRM/ticketing systems SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONSIn addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.Attend department and property meetings.Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.Maintain good working relationship with preferred vendors of the property.Maintain open communication with all property-operating departments.Other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as:  attending outside V.I.P

parties and social events, assisting Sales & Event Managers close pieces of business, etc. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.Thorough knowledge of events, food and beverage products, preparation and presentation.Strong leadership, negotiating and closing skills.Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.  Considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.Ability to input 40 WPM on a computer keyboard. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAny combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. College degree with hotel/venue/attractions major is preferred. Prior Sales, attraction industry experience is preferred
