Join our team as a Poker Shift Manager!

As a Poker Shift Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of a dynamic poker room, leading a diverse team of gaming professionals while ensuring premier guest service, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

Job Purpose:

Manages Poker activities and staff on an assigned shift

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

  1. Maintains the efficiency of Poker games by ensuring cost effective scheduling, supervising dealer rotation, assessing the need for overtime and early outs based on business volume, monitoring professionalism of poker room team members, verifying and ensuring timely completion of forms, records and documents, ensuring rule interpretations and decisions are made in a fair and consistent manner, evaluating poker room procedures, making recommendations for improvements, implementing approved changes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures, and initiating corrective actions as needed. - 35%
  2. Promotes service excellence by greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner, establishing rapport, learning and retaining guests' names, ensuring accurate seating of guests in desired games, ensuring guests' chips are provided promptly, attending to guests' requests, providing information and assistance as needed, creating a comfortable and friendly environment, and ensuring a maximum level of service and satisfaction throughout the poker room is achieved and maintained. - 25%
  3. Develops team members by interviewing potential candidates for positions within the Poker department, making recommendations for hire, monitoring team member performance, conducting performance appraisals, and providing training, coaching, commending, and corrective action as needed. - 20%
  4. Maximizes Poker revenue and profitability by coordinating gaming activities with Poker Floor Managers, including opening games to meet business demands, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of existing promotions, recommending new promotions, and implementing approved changes and new promotions. - 20%

Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:

Essential:     

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 2 years poker relief shift manager or equivalent experience
  • 1 year floor manager experience

Desirable:

  • Training in management/supervisory skills
  • Tribal Gaming experience

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge of all rules and procedures applicable to poker games, game protection, and accounting and dealing processes
  • Ability to manage and provide leadership to a large subordinate staff
  • Ability to research staffing needs and schedule personnel
  • Record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and all levels of personnel
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
