Job Summary:
We are seeking an Athletic Trainer in our Duke Orthopaedics (DSSI) Clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, assessment of pain level, completion and / or review of past medical history, family history social history and medication reconciliation.
  • Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing / manual muscle testing / dynamic muscle testing, myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing.
  • At direction of supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
  • Document all aspects of evaluation, testing appropriately within the Electronic Health Record.
  • Collaborate with supervising physician to develop an appropriate plan of care for treatment/interventions.
  • Use current best practices for concussion evaluation and management.
  • Prepare for and assists physician with minor surgical procedures, including preparation of patient treatment site.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE accredited program required
  • NATABOC Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification) is required

JOB SCHEDULE
Day Shift- Monday-Friday with no evenings, weekends or Duke scheduled holidays
