Join the Marketing team at Desert Mountain Club, one of the largest and most prestigious private country clubs in North America!
As a Marketing & Communications Manager, you'll be responsible for leading editorial storytelling, executive communications, public relations, and strategic communications for the Club. This role serves as a lead writer, interviewer, and on-camera communicator, creating engaging content for Member publications, newsletters, video, podcasts, and other Club communications. The position requires exceptional writing skills, strong judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships with Club leadership and Members.
What We're Looking For
  • At least 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or an editorial role
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of grammar, structure, and AP style
  • Experience with long-form writing, feature stories, executive messaging, and public relations
  • Strong interviewing skills and the ability to communicate confidently on camera and behind a microphone
  • Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • A polished, collaborative, and service-focused approach suited to a luxury, Member-focused environment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • On-camera or podcast hosting experience preferred.
  • Prior private club, resort, or luxury hospitality experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with public relations agencies and media

JOB DETAILS
Responsibilities:
  • Lead editorial content for Member publications, newsletters, and Club communications, including feature stories, Member profiles, and long-form content.
  • Conduct interviews with Club leadership and department directors and translate complex information into clear, engaging Member-facing communications.
  • Draft executive communications, including Member letters, announcements, talking points, and other leadership messaging.
  • Host and appear on camera for Club video programming and host the Club podcast, including guest coordination, research, interviews, scripts, and segment development.
  • Manage public relations activities, including press releases, media pitches, media inquiries, briefing materials, award submissions, rankings questionnaires, and earned media tracking.
  • Develop and execute strategic communications campaigns supporting major Club initiatives, leadership announcements, capital projects, and program launches.
  • Partner with assigned Club departments and leadership to develop effective internal and Member-facing communications.
  • Develop timely communications related to closures, schedule changes, service disruptions, and other sensitive matters.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to maintain a consistent Club voice, coordinate priorities, and provide backup coverage.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications with correspondence, special projects, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Stay current on marketing and communications trends, best practices, and industry developments.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 20 pounds - Occasionally
  • Required to sit for long periods of time.

  • Typical work hours - Monday - Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with additional hours as needed.
