What is a proof of concept?

A PoC, or Proof of Concept, is a demonstration or prototype used to validate whether an idea, technology, or solution is feasible and can work as intended. In the context of business or technology, PoCs help stakeholders determine the viability of a project before committing to full-scale development or deployment. They are typically small-scale and focus on testing core functionalities rather than building a complete product. Successful PoCs can lead to further investment, while unsuccessful ones help companies avoid costly mistakes.

To thrive as a Point of Care (POC) Coordinator, you need a background in clinical laboratory science or nursing, with relevant licensure or certifications such as MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP). Familiarity with point-of-care testing devices, laboratory information systems (LIS), and regulatory standards like CLIA and CAP is essential. These skills ensure accurate testing, regulatory adherence, and seamless integration of point-of-care services within healthcare settings.
