The PM Line Cook at The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI plays a critical role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests during evening service hours. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. The ideal candidate will work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, collaborating closely with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Attention to detail, adherence to food safety protocols, and maintaining a clean and organized workstation are essential components of this role. Ultimately, the PM Line Cook contributes to the overall success of the hotel's food and beverage operations by upholding our commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience working as a line cook or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work evening shifts and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
• Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Culinary school training or certification.
• Experience working in a high-volume kitchen or hotel food service environment.
• Knowledge of diverse cuisines and menu item preparation.
• Ability to multitask effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
• Familiarity with inventory management and ordering processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines during the evening shift.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak hours.
• Monitor food quality and portion sizes to minimize waste and maintain consistency.
• Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation regulations to ensure a safe dining environment.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and freshness of ingredients.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to coordinate timely order completion.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying temperatures (kitchens, freezers)
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing equipment up to 250 lbs
• Skilled in handling kitchen tools and equipment safely
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-noise environment

Attention to detail is critical when following recipes and plating food to maintain consistency and presentation. Additionally, knowledge of food safety and sanitation is applied continuously to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
