Job description

Hood Distribution is looking for a Warehouse Lead at our Indianapolis, IN facility. Hood Distribution is a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber, plywood, moldings, and related wood products whose customers include cabinet shops, millwork houses, retail lumber yards, and similar businesses.

The Warehouse Lead is to provide leadership, guidance, and training to the warehouse and driver staff. The Warehouse Lead reports to Operation Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and lead all facets of daily activities in the warehouse including but not limited to:
    • Ensure smooth operations and efficient completion of projects.
    • Monitor and oversee daily warehouse procedures and productivity to ensure all policies are followed.
    • Assist with coordinating inbound freight from vendors.
    • Assisting in warehouse duties (customer or UPS pickups, LTL, and receiving).
    • Collaborate with Operations Manager and staff on issues with orders or inventory.
    • Cleaning and organizing of the warehouse.
    • Assist Operations Manager in managing the warehouse and drivers in varying shifts, including training, performance reviews, and disciplinary processes.
    • Participate in monthly safety meetings as part of safety committee.
    • Assist management in scheduling deliveries and transfers.
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the warehouse.
Qualifications:
  • Prior Warehouse Team Lead supervision experience
  • Experience and ability to load trucks with Lumber/Plywood
  • Shipping and Receiving experience.
  • Fleet Management experience.
  • Operational Safety experience
  • Prior experience and the ability to operate a forklift.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understand and effectively use a RF (Radio Frequency) device and computer tools (Microsoft Office and ERP systems)
  • Great interpersonal skills- a team player
  • Good attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift 50-100lbs
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to change.

Salary Range: $23.00- $25.00/per hour
