Job description

As a Maintenance Mechanic you may be required to perform tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, maintaining and repairing of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment, and building. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently as well as with a team and follow Carris Reels standards for safety and conduct.
Duties:
  • Troubleshoot and perform general maintenance duties on machines and buildings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the machines.
  • Assists in servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
  • Performs minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician including but not limited to PLC installation and programming.
  • Assists in minor carpentry and repair work.
  • Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.
  • Housekeeping in maintenance shop.

SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE:
  • Must wear all required PPE properly.
  • Conduct yourself in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Clean assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed by your supervisor.

Language Skills:
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Able to communicate with visitors, co-workers, supervisor, and management.

Requirements:
  • 2-5 years of recent experience working on industrial manufacturing machinery.
  • Experience with manual and automated machines such as boring, routers, nailers, saw machines, etc.
  • Experience using different hand tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Basics of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • PLC and electrical experience
  • Ability to use judgment and make decisions and have sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work overtime including some Saturdays as needed is REQUIRED.
