Job description

Job Title: Plumber HelperJob Description

As a Plumber Helper, you support licensed plumbers with the installation of water supply, drain, waste, and vent systems on commercial construction projects. You assist with rough-in and final plumbing work, measure and install copper piping, and help keep the jobsite organized, safe, and efficient. This role offers hands-on experience in the plumbing trade and a clear path for career growth.

Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, fit, and sweat copper pipe for domestic water systems.
  • Assist plumbers with rough-in plumbing installation for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Support installation of water supply, drain, waste, and vent systems.
  • Stage materials, tools, and equipment throughout the jobsite to keep work progressing efficiently.
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, and basic plumbing components under the direction of a plumber.
  • Assist with fixture installation and final trim work, including setting and connecting plumbing fixtures.
  • Prepare, clean, flux, and solder copper joints to ensure leak-free connections and quality workmanship.
  • Read measurements and fit piping to required specifications using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Utilize hand and power tools such as pipe cutters, torches, drills, saws, and levels safely and effectively.
  • Perform general labor duties as needed to support project completion, including material handling and site cleanup.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures and comply with commercial construction site requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with plumbers, apprentices, and other trades on active commercial construction sites.
  • Adapt to working on both indoor and outdoor jobsite environments and adjust to varying site conditions.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of plumbing, construction, mechanical, or trade-related experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience cutting, fitting, or sweating copper pipe strongly preferred.
  • Ability to measure, cut, fit, and install copper pipe for domestic water systems.
  • Ability to prepare, clean, flux, and solder copper joints to achieve leak-free connections.
  • Basic pipe fitting skills, including reading measurements and fitting piping to specifications.
  • Comfort and proficiency using hand and power tools such as pipe cutters, torches, drills, saws, and levels.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments that require standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.
  • Reliable transportation to and from jobsites.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to following safety procedures and working safely on commercial construction sites.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the plumbing trade.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with PVC and PEX piping systems.
  • Exposure to blueprint reading and underground plumbing work.
  • Experience with fixture installation and service plumbing.
  • Brazing experience or exposure to brazing techniques.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
