Playwright Typescript information

What is a Playwright Typescript developer?

A Playwright Typescript developer is a software engineer who specializes in using Playwright, an open-source automation library, with the TypeScript programming language to write end-to-end tests for web applications. Playwright allows developers to simulate user interactions with web browsers, ensuring that web applications function correctly across different browsers and platforms. Using TypeScript provides benefits like static type checking and improved code maintainability, making it easier to catch errors early and write reliable tests. These developers are often responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing test scripts to automate quality assurance processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Playwright Typescript developer?

To thrive as a Playwright Typescript Developer, you need strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, automated testing principles, and experience with web application architectures. Familiarity with Playwright's testing framework, CI/CD systems like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and version control tools such as Git is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication are important soft skills for diagnosing test failures and collaborating with development teams. These skills ensure robust test automation, reliable software delivery, and efficient teamwork in fast-paced development environments.

What are some common challenges faced when writing automated tests with Playwright and TypeScript, and how can they be addressed?

A frequent challenge in this role is managing flaky tests, which can result from dynamic web elements or asynchronous operations. To address this, Playwright offers robust auto-waiting and retry mechanisms, but it's important to write selectors and test logic that are resilient to UI changes. Another challenge is maintaining a scalable, organized test suite as the application grows. Using TypeScript’s strong typing and modular code structure, along with Playwright’s test runner, can help improve code quality and make tests easier to maintain. Collaborating closely with developers and QA engineers ensures tests align with evolving requirements.

Is playwright in demand now?

Playwrights with skills in automation testing using Playwright and TypeScript are in demand as companies seek efficient testing solutions for web applications. Knowledge of modern testing frameworks, continuous integration, and scripting can enhance job prospects in this field. The demand is driven by the increasing adoption of automated testing in software development.

Is playwright with TypeScript in demand?

Playwright with TypeScript is in high demand for web testing and automation roles due to its popularity for end-to-end testing of modern web applications. Skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, and automation frameworks are increasingly sought after by employers across various industries. Knowledge of testing tools like Playwright enhances job prospects in quality assurance and development teams.

Job description

Ranger, revolutionizing software testing
Ranger is an AI-powered platform redefining QA. Our mission is to power testing for the world's most ambitious engineering, product, and design teams so they can get back to building.
Some of the fastest-growing companies in the world (Clay, Suno, Dust, and more) use Ranger and we collaborated with OpenAI, which you can read about here. We're also incredibly excited to announce $8.9M in total funding over two rounds of funding led by XYZ and General Catalyst.
How we're already changing the game
Intelligent test generation: We automatically generate reliable and efficient Playwright tests by leveraging advanced LLMs.
Self-healing tests: Our system proactively identifies and resolves flaky tests, ensuring consistent and reliable test suites.
Improved failure insights: Get automated failure reports with likely causes, and easy-to-follow steps to reproduce the issue.
About the role
As a Forward Deployed Test Engineer, you'll drive customer success by developing and managing end-to-end Playwright test suites using our AI platform. From initial onboarding through renewal, you'll own the technical testing relationship with customers, transforming their requirements into reliable automated test frameworks.
This role requires a technical problem-solver capable of writing quality test code while building strong customer relationships. You'll balance hands-on test development with strategic customer management to ensure our customers get the most value from our testing service.
As Forward Deployed Test Engineer, you will:
  • Own the full customer testing journey from implementation through renewal, driving success across onboarding, test development, and ongoing optimization
  • Develop and maintain high-quality Playwright test suites tailored to each customer's unique requirements and technical environment
  • Lead technical implementation projects, including AI test suite generation, configuration, and integration with customer CI/CD pipelines
  • Ensure test reliability through proactive monitoring, failure resolution, and workflow optimization
  • Drive customer health metrics and identify expansion opportunities through deep understanding of customer testing needs
  • Support pre-sales through technical demos, assessments, and proof-of-concept test implementations
  • Develop custom testing solutions for unique customer requirements while maintaining scalability
  • Be the voice of the customer by capturing technical testing requirements, shaping product direction, and collaborating with engineering on platform improvements
  • Create and maintain customer-facing technical documentation and testing implementation guides

To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • Software development experience with a focus on test automation (particularly Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks)
  • Hands-on experience writing and maintaining end-to-end browser-based tests
  • Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience integrating test frameworks into diverse dev workflows - from cloud CI/CD to on-premise runners and custom environments
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt testing solutions across different technical environments
  • Previous experience in customer-facing technical roles
  • High sense of agency and ability to prioritize work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple customer testing engagements and prioritize effectively
  • Pragmatic decision-making that balances customer testing needs with technical feasibility

We value skills and mindset over specific credentials. Whether you have a CS degree, attended a boot camp, or are self-taught, we welcome diverse perspectives to contribute to our mission.
$80,000 - $120,000 a year
In addition to a base salary, employees will receive stock options.
Benefits for full-time team members include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, paid holidays, and flexible paid time off (PTO).
Note: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
