Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Automation Technical Lead Engineer with 8–10 years of overall experience in software testing and quality engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Playwright automation framework development, test strategy, test architecture, CI/CD integration, and leadership of QA automation teams. The candidate will play a key role in designing scalable automation solutions, driving quality initiatives, mentoring team members, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.

The team currently faces several key challenges:

- Optimizing and modernizing an existing Playwright automation framework that has scalability and maintenance challenges.

- Migrating automation scripts from Micro Focus UFT to Playwright as part of a broader transformation initiative.

- Expanding automation capabilities to support end-to-end SAP testing.

- Embedding a true Quality Engineering (QE) mindset across the organization rather than treating quality as solely a QA responsibility.

- Accelerating delivery by identifying and automating the highest-value business-critical paths faster.

- This role is viewed as a strategic hire that will help shape automation standards, framework design, quality metrics, and team best practices moving forward.

Technical Leadership

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade test automation frameworks using Playwright (Python).

• Define automation standards, coding guidelines, and best practices across projects.

• Review automation scripts and framework enhancements to ensure maintainability and scalability.

• Drive automation strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to QA Automation Engineers.

Test Automation

• Develop and maintain end-to-end, UI, API, and integrated test automation suites with ERP Systems.

• Implement/Maintain robust test automation solutions for web applications using Playwright.

• Design reusable components, utilities, and libraries to improve automation efficiency.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.

• Enhance test reporting, logging, and monitoring capabilities.

Quality Engineering

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to understand requirements and define test strategies.

• Conduct risk assessments and ensure adequate test coverage.

• Drive shift-left testing practices within Agile environments.

• Identify automation opportunities and improve test execution efficiency.

CI/CD & DevOps Integration

• Integrate Playwright test suites with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or other CI/CD tools.

• Configure parallel execution and optimize test execution times.

• Manage test environments and execution pipelines.

• Monitor automation execution results and implement corrective actions.

Stakeholder Management

• Provide regular status updates, quality metrics, and automation progress reports.

• Collaborate with development and product teams to address quality concerns.

• Participate in architecture reviews and release readiness assessments.

Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

• Expertise in test framework architecture and design patterns.

• Experience with Page Object Model (POM) and modern automation design practices.

• Knowledge of API testing, database validation, and backend testing.
