Job description

The Software QA Engineer supports the planning, coordination, automation, execution, and reporting of testing activities for proprietary software applications developed by our Engineering teams. This role performs functional, regression, integration, and post-release validation while leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve test design, coverage, and test execution. The QA Engineer partners closely with Engineering, business units, and subject matter experts to develop test cases, manage test data, validate expected results, and contribute to robust automated test suites.

This is a remote position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, automate, execute and maintain test cases for new and modified functionality
  • Utilize AI in all phases of the testing process
  • Develop complex SQL scripts from scratch
  • Perform baseline, regression, functional/integration, and post-release testing on assigned application modules
  • Quickly respond to and test fixed defects; proactively identify problems/edge cases rooted in business reality
  • Identify, document, and communicate defects; validate not only technical accuracy but overall business process integrity
  • Collaborate with the development team and fellow QA members to analyze functionality and resolve issues
  • Deliver high‑quality testing results in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environments
  • Stay current on Healthcare Management industry trends and apply insights to build resilient, future‑ready testing strategies
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Experience using AI for test design and test execution
  • Deep understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes, especially for web-based applications
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and scripts to create or validate test data
  • Demonstrated ability to go beyond technical requirements to master the end-to-end business lifecycle (e.g., claims adjudication, medical billing, or provider networks)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to act as a bridge between technical teams and stakeholders; comfortable questioning the reason behind a feature to ensure the solution solves the actual business problem
  • Proficiency in navigating intricate healthcare datasets and regulatory environments (such as HIPAA or CMS guidelines) with an understanding that a data anomaly is not simply a bug, but it is a potential compliance risk or a breakdown in patient/client care
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in application testing, including creating test plans, writing and executing test cases, and managing defects
  • 3+ years of experience with relational database design, maintenance, and testing
  • 1+ years of professional experience with test automation (using a framework like Selenium, Playwright or equivalent)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps preferred
