About the Role

Bring your dog to work? That’s right! Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services, has an immediate opening for an energetic, attentive, and deeply passionate dog lover to join our team as a Canine Coach. In this role, you will be the primary supervisor of our open-play playrooms, ensuring every pup has a safe, fun, and enriching experience. You will be the pack leader, maintaining order, facilitating engaging activities, and ensuring our facility remains spotless.

This person must love dogs—and, upon successful completion of training, you can even bring YOUR dog to work with you! What a bonus!

Day-to-Day Responsibilities & Pet Care
  • Playroom Management: Safely manage and supervise a playroom of dogs of various sizes and temperaments. Maintain a calm, positive pack environment while preventing and de-escalating any potential conflicts.
  • Creative Enrichment: Facilitate daily brain games, bubble parties, and creative themed enrichment activities to keep our pups mentally stimulated and engaged.
  • Health & Safety: Continuously monitor dogs for any signs of stress, illness, or injury. Perform routine nose-to-tail health checks to ensure everyone is feeling their best.
  • Exceptional Cleanliness: Maintain the highest standards of hygiene. You will be responsible for continuous cleaning throughout your shift, including picking up waste, mopping floors with pet-safe chemicals, and sanitizing playroom equipment to keep our environment pristine.
  • Effective Communication: Recognize and reward positive behaviors. Provide detailed updates to management and the front desk team regarding dog behavior, health, and playroom dynamics.
Qualifications & Personal Characteristics
  • Must love dogs! A genuine passion for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities.
  • Strong understanding of dog body language and pack dynamics (previous professional experience is preferred, but we will fully train the right candidate).
  • Detail-oriented, quick-thinking, and emotionally intelligent when handling pet care.
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic by nature, and a strong team player.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing, walking continuously, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a lively, high-energy, and loud environment.
  • Ability to work flexible days and hours, including holidays and weekends.

  • Consistent and timely attendance.
  • Ability to learn dog recognition and recall dog names/behaviors quickly.
  • Completion of all Dogtopia E-learning platforms and canine body language training.
  • Proper door control in all rooms to ensure the absolute highest standards of safety.
  • Proper record keeping for feeding, medication, and behavioral notes.
  • Participate and lead topics in team meetings.
