Playroom Manager Jobs in Minnesota (NOW HIRING)

Playroom Manager information

What does a playroom manager do?

A Playroom Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a children's playroom or indoor play area. Their duties typically include supervising staff, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the play environment, organizing activities, and providing excellent customer service to children and their families. Playroom Managers also handle scheduling, inventory management, and sometimes marketing or event planning. They play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging space for children.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a playroom manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Playroom Manager, you need experience in childcare, facility management, and safety protocols, often complemented by a background in early childhood education or a related certification. Familiarity with scheduling software, incident reporting systems, and child-safe equipment is typically required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help foster a positive environment for both children and staff. These skills ensure a safe, engaging, and well-organized play space, supporting both the wellbeing of children and the smooth operation of the facility.

How does a playroom manager typically collaborate with staff and parents to ensure a safe and engaging environment for children?

A Playroom Manager works closely with staff to implement safety protocols, oversee daily activities, and provide ongoing training to ensure high standards of care. Regular communication with parents is also essential, as managers share updates on their child's progress, address concerns, and gather feedback to improve the playroom experience. This collaborative approach not only maintains a safe and stimulating environment but also fosters trust and engagement among team members and families.

Schedule: 4-Day Work Week | 36 Hours | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Description:
About Our Family & Philosophy:
We are a warm, active, and dual-career family that values outdoor exploration, structured routines, and hands-on learning. We strive to raise polite, independent, and curious children in a home full of laughter. We view our household staff as true partners—trusted extensions of our family whose expertise and authority we deeply respect.
Because we are stretched thin balancing work and family, we are looking for a dedicated professional to anchor our home. Your support allows us to transition seamlessly from the workday to focused, quality time with our children.
Position Overview & Team Dynamics:
This is a dynamic, hybrid role split between high-energy childcare and proactive household management.
Collaborative Team Environment: We believe in a team approach to keeping our busy home running smoothly. In this role, you will be working alongside our wonderful co-nanny already on board. We are looking for a true team player who communicates seamlessly, shares responsibilities with grace, and enjoys working collaboratively to give our children the best care possible.
  • The Childcare Focus: Providing comprehensive, screen-free, and developmentally engaging care for our young children (partnering with our current nanny to manage overlapping schedules and routines).
  • The Household Focus: Acting as the operational engine of our home. We are looking for someone with a genuine love for cooking nourishing family meals and a natural eye for maintaining orderly, organized spaces.
(Note: We also utilize a weekly deep-cleaning service, so your focus is purely on the daily rhythm, child upkeep, and organizational maintenance outlined below).

Core Responsibilities:
  • Child Enrichment: Partner with our current nanny to design play-based, screen-free daily activities and lead outdoor adventures.
  • Family Meal Prep & Cooking: Take ownership of weekly meal planning and batch cooking. Prepare 2–3 family dinners, 1–2 family lunches, and wholesome snacks that both the adults and kids will genuinely love.
  • Daily Logistics & Upkeep: Manage child-related laundry, dishes, and gear maintenance (strollers, car seats). Track daily metrics (naps, nutrition) and coordinate with your co-nanny for seamless handoffs.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Vibrant & Engaging: You bring an energetic, highly imaginative spirit to work. You don’t just supervise—you get on the floor, sing, get silly, and model a genuine enthusiasm for childhood.
  • Collaborative & Team-Oriented: Highly cooperative mindset; you thrive when working in tandem with another professional and respect a clear division of duties.
  • Experienced & Confident: 2+ years of professional nanny or household management experience with verified long-term references. Expertise with infant and toddler age groups is a must.
  • A Natural System-Builder: You are highly autonomous and possess a "see a need, fill a need" work ethic. You stay ahead of the chaos proactively rather than reactively.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • 2+ years of professional, verifiable experience.
  • Exceptional cooking skills (no formal training required, but a genuine passion for food is essential).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to renew immediately).
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
  • Non-smoker and comfortable around pets.
What Success Looks Like in Our Home:
We aren't looking for someone to just execute a checklist. You will thrive here if you love working in a collaborative team environment, take quiet pride in a well-stocked fridge, and love seeing a playroom that stays beautifully functional. If helping a busy household thrive alongside another great nanny lights you up, we would love to meet you!
