Mother's Helper: After-school Babysitter / Family Assistant Part-Time at The Gerson Family About the Role We're looking for a warm, responsible, reliable, centered, steady, and highly organized individual to join our family in a dual role - providing attentive after-school childcare while also supporting the household and family schedule with light family assistant duties. This is a consistent, recurring position and a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in a busy, structured environment and loves both working with kids and staying on top of details. This job would start the second or third week of September 2026 and run at least through June 2027. We have four children: - A 13-year-old daughter who is mostly independent and does not require childcare, but may occasionally need accompanying for activities outside of our neighborhood. - An 11-year-old son who is also gaining independence and doesn't require much childcare, but may also need help getting to and from activities. - 7-year-old twin boys, who will likely comprise the majority of the childcare responsibilities. Schedule Monday-Friday, approximately 3:30-6:30PM (hours may vary slightly based on school schedule and family needs). Can include some night and weekend hours if mutually agreed upon. Babysitting Responsibilities * Pick up children from school and bring them home, to an after-school activity, sports practice, playdate or the Park * Prepare or buy an after-school snack * Supervise play dates with multiple children * Supervise homework * Engage children in age-appropriate activities (active play, crafts, reading, etc.) * Maintain a safe, calm, and structured environment in line with family rules and values * Communicate daily updates to parents * Assist with tidying related to children's activities Mother's Helper / Personal Assistant Responsibilities * Run local errands (dry cleaning, pharmacy, buying birthday gifts, etc.) * Assist with scheduling, appointments, and calendar management * Help organize and maintain household systems - this may include computer work like list/database management and research or organizing of toys, books or closets * Pickups, deliveries, and returns * Any other tasks that help keep the household running smoothly, including but not limited to, gift-wrapping, holiday card mailing, etc. Qualifications * Consistent reliability and responsibility, backed up by multiple checkable references * Prior childcare experience with multiple children required * College degree preferred * Strong English language skills required * Exceptionally organized, proactive, and detail-oriented * Fluency with basic technology like Google Docs, Apple calendars, etc. required * A valid driver's license and comfort driving in New York City preferred * Honest, discreet and trustworthy - comfortable working in a private home * Strong communication skills and a can-do attitude * Ability to multitask and shift priorities as the day requires * CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) * Comfortable with children ages of all ages Compensation & Perks * $25-35/hour, commensurate with experience * Consistent weekly schedule * Paid for all scheduled hours, excluding pre-scheduled school holidays To Apply Please send a brief introduction, your relevant experience, and two references by clicking the "Reply by Email" button.
