Qualifications
The essential responsibilities of the Documentation Specialist include, but are not limited to:
Having a strong knowledge of specific medical coverage and documentation guidelines for various commercial insurance plans for respiratory services, home medical equipment and supplies.
- Review and request appropriate medical documentation according to insurance coverage requirements from physicians and clinical staff to ensure patient qualifies for medical services.
- Follow up with internal customers via phone, fax, email, etc. regarding outstanding documentation.
- Verify insurance coverage information, billing documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide instruction to employees on proper documentation completion.
