Job description

Department: NUQ Marketing
Salary/Grade: ITS/77
Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) seeks a detail-oriented and collaborative Digital Platforms Specialist to support the day-to-day management of the institution's digital presence. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining and updating NU-Q's websites and related digital platforms, help publish content, support basic visual and multimedia needs, and contribute to digital storytelling initiatives in coordination with internal stakeholders. This role is suited to a hands-on contributor with solid technical and content management skills who can help ensure a consistent, user-friendly digital experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Update and maintain website content and digital platform materials in coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Upload, format, and publish text, images, and other approved content through the content management system.
  • Support the creation and editing of web and social media content, including captions, short copy, and basic digital storytelling assets.
  • Assist with basic graphic and multimedia updates for websites and digital channels while following brand guidelines.
  • Monitor website functionality and help troubleshoot routine content, formatting, and user experience issues.
  • Support regular CMS updates, content reviews, and routine quality checks to help maintain site accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with basic SEO, accessibility, and analytics tasks, and help prepare simple performance reports when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with content, communications, design, and technical teams to support digital projects and campaigns.
Team Collaboration
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and workshops.
  • Support documentation and shared resources to enhance knowledge retention.
Other duties, as assigned by the Assistant Dean and senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, certifications, skills)
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Digital Media, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience.
  • Some professional experience supporting websites, digital content management, or related communications platforms.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.
  • Basic proficiency in HTML and CSS; familiarity with JavaScript is helpful.
  • Ability to create and edit basic digital content and visual assets using common design tools.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility, SEO, and digital analytics concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow established processes, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)
  • Experience working with editorial calendars, website content updates, or routine publishing workflows.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar web reporting tools.
  • Basic experience creating graphics or resizing multimedia assets for digital platforms.
  • Exposure to higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven communications environments.
The target budgeted salary for this position is $65,120 to $83,950 annually. Offers will be based on candidate experience and education, as well as equity within Northwestern University.
