Job description

Petersen Industries LLC located in Lake Wales, Florida is looking for a CNC Operator. Petersen Industries LLC offers competitive compensation and a variety of benefits including Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, 401k Retirement Plan and Paid Time Off
The CNC Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating CNC and automated saw equipment to cut raw materials to precise specifications used in the manufacturing of heavy equipment such as grapple trucks, grapple loaders, and knuckle boom loaders. This position supports production by ensuring materials are cut accurately, efficiently, and according to engineering drawings and production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC band saws, cold saws, or automated cutting equipment to cut steel, tubing, plate, and structural materials.
  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings, job travelers, cut lists, and work orders.
  • Set up CNC saw machines including loading programs, adjusting feeds and speeds, and positioning materials.
  • Measure and verify cut parts using precision measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges.
  • Load and unload raw materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust to maintain cut quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Deburr and label finished parts according to production standards.
  • Maintain organized work area and follow 5S or similar workplace organization practices.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Record production data and report equipment or quality issues to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to support production flow.
  • Assist with inventory tracking of raw materials when required.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of experience operating CNC saws or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and cut sheets.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machine controls and setup.
  • Experience working with structural steel, tubing, and heavy materials preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing heavy equipment or truck body manufacturing.
  • Experience with automated material cutting systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing work order systems.

Certifications and Special Requirements
The following certifications may be required or obtained after hire depending on company policy:
