Description:

The Maintenance/Repair Technician II performs work involving two or more maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve welding, machine and equipment repairing, and electrical work. At all times observes and follow safety, HACCP/Relevant Food Safety guidelines and policies.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine Preventive Maintenance and inspection of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical and Pneumatic issues with Extrusion machinery
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical and pneumatics schematics
  • Perform repairs and replacement of faulty components to keep machine operating efficiently
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Must be able to document work requests, work orders, and machinery failures for machines and equipment using computer maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of industrial electrical wiring and 3 phase/ 480 Volts
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of process controls
  • Knowledgeable of A/C and D/C motors and controls
  • Understands PLC process controls
  • Maintains chiller system
  • Maintain plant air supply system
  • Ability to fabricate needed parts or make machine modifications
  • Arc and/or Mig welding experience
  • Maintains resin delivery system
  • Record and maintain spare part usage
  • Knowledgeable in operating machine shop equipment: Milling machine, lathes, welding, surface grinders, drill press and band saw.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in maintenance related fields is preferred
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance II in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Experience with PLCs and other manufacturing control systems is an advantage
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Possess problem solving skills and abilities to work well under pressure

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of Extrusion machines and their functions are preferred
  • 5 years of industrial manufacturing experience
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Proficient
  • Ability to effectively handle pressure and challenges
  • The capability to take proactive steps in managing problems

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Bend, turn and lift while performing the job
  • Climb stairs and stand for extended periods
  • Work on scissor lift at heights of 20 feet
  • Use given breaktime responsibly
  • Ability to work around very hot items
  • Will be on Call every other weekend

  • Possess the knowledge of lock out, tag out (LOTO) and always follow safe work practices

Compensation Information:

The hourly range for a Maintenance/Repair Technician II is $28.50 to $34.00.  The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area.  The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
