Job description

Description:

The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic parts. This role requires a strong understanding of plastics processing principles and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust injection molding processes providing customers quality parts; on time within the quoted cycle time and set labor standards.
  • Responsible to establish plans and goals on quarterly basis.
  • Helps to lead continuous improvement with focus on production efficiency, scrap and organization.
  • Responsibility to mentor Setup Technicians including, but not limited to daily priorities, training, and procedures.
  • Responsible to aid in facility manufacturing engineering, including but not limited to, robotics, dryer, thermolators, loaders, etc. for the efficient production of plastic parts on the molding floor
  • Responsible to aid reviewing new projects for proper manufacturing setup that allow for efficient processes and ergonomics for our workforce.
  • Responsible for managing mold startup and shutdowns including monitoring and approvals, procedures and holding team accountable to set standards
  • Responsible for the timely setup of molds and workstation based upon production schedule
  • Works directly and alongside Production Manager in the execution of production orders as necessary
  • Provides technical guidance on the most robust methods of plastics processing, robotics, conveying and process controls
  • Responsible for making sure manufacturing cycles are in line with company standards and to make improvement as necessary.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to Quality for NCR and CR actions including help driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal quality problems or customer complaints.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area
  • Part of team that establishes, implements and audits company injection mold and machinery preventative maintenance program


Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Technical 2 year college degree or equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in injection molding processing
  • Working knowledge of types of thermoplastics and injection molds

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Understanding of injection molding
  • Proficient in ability to set-up and create robust molding processes
  • Ability to use computer and programs associated with performing job requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to make timely fact-based decisions; shows good judgment
  • Proficient in the ability to read and interpret customer drawings
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle projects to completion
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, heat, and dust.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
