Job description

PLITEK L.L.C. is looking to fill an immediate position as an Extruder Machine Operator. This important position requires a self-starter, quality minded, and responsible individual. Knowledge in Extrusion Machinery (blown, cast, sheet, injection molding), press set-up, and process improvements is a must.

To Note: The role may shift at times from just running an extruder, to running other presses in the factory as demand shifts.


We are located at 35 Piper Ln, Prospect Heights, IL 60070

Available shift: 2nd, and 2/3 shift flex positions

The candidate will be responsible for product quality, completing process runs & documentation. Primarily extruding plastic-based films. Must have some experience with the extrusion process!!!

Job Description:

12-hour shifts and overnight rotations are possible:

  • Machine operating experience, training, or education is required.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and demonstrates a willingness to learn.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of using quality measuring devices.
  • Strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math
  • Will conduct quality inspections, and record results as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate extrusion machinery to produce plastic products according to specifications.
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal output and quality.
  • Adjust machine parameters (speed, temperature, pressure) to meet product specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery, including troubleshooting issues and making minor repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to production schedules.
  • Document production data, including quantities produced, downtime, and any quality issues encountered.
  • Adhere to safety protocols (LOTO, PPE, OSHA standards) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adapt to new technologies and machinery in extrusion, coating, slitting, and punching processes.

Job requirements:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED
  • Must have the ability to read, speak, and write in English.
  • The job requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have 6 months machine operation experience on related equipment

Desired Skills:

  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, root cause analysis, continuous improvement) to reduce inefficiencies.
  • Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001:2015 preferred and ISO 13485:2016)
  • Experience with press set-up and process improvements.
