Job description

Elyria Plastic Products is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with setup and programming experience. This position works Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.

We offer a highly competitive compensation package for candidates with experience.

Excellent benefit package after 60 days of employment. We offer 401(k), dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, medical including an HSA option, and supplemental insurance. Paid time off and company-paid holidays begin after 90 days of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, the sequence of operations needed to manufacture parts, and the setup requirements.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Communicate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to exchange technical information.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge and instruments such as micrometers, indicators, and other gauges.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust stains, and foreign matter.
  • Work with programmers to check and ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly, and that output will function adequately, and that output will meet specifications.
  • Design and manufacture fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
  • Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certification or degree in CNC programming, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of the certification.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, walking long distances, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching are required for the position many times a day or for extended periods.
  • Above average computer, reading, communication (verbal and written), and shop math skills.
