How much do plasma engineering remote jobs pay per year?

As of May 29, 2026, the average yearly pay for plasma engineering remote in the United States is $62,977.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $47,000.00 and $72,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Plasma Engineer (Remote), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Plasma Engineer in a remote setting, you need a strong background in plasma physics, electrical engineering, or a related field, typically supported by a relevant degree and experience in plasma systems. Experience with simulation software (such as COMSOL Multiphysics), CAD tools, and familiarity with vacuum and plasma diagnostic equipment are crucial. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective remote communication are standout soft skills for this role. These competencies enable efficient project execution, innovation, and collaboration in a distributed team environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote plasma engineers, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Remote plasma engineers often encounter challenges related to accessing specialized equipment, real-time troubleshooting, and collaborating across time zones. To overcome these, many teams rely on advanced simulation software, remote monitoring tools, and regular video meetings to maintain strong communication. Building strong documentation habits and proactive communication are key for successfully managing projects and ensuring alignment with in-person teams. Continuous learning and staying updated on plasma technology trends also help engineers stay effective in a remote environment.

What is plasma engineering and what does a plasma engineer do, especially in a remote setting?

Plasma engineering involves the study and application of plasma, which is an ionized gas, in various technologies such as semiconductor manufacturing, materials processing, and energy generation. Plasma engineers design, develop, and optimize systems that utilize plasma for industrial, scientific, or medical purposes. In a remote role, plasma engineers may focus on simulation, modeling, data analysis, and remote monitoring of plasma systems, using specialized software and collaborating virtually with teams. They typically work in research, manufacturing, or technology development environments that support remote work setups.

What is the difference between Plasma Engineering Remote vs Plasma Technician?

AspectPlasma Engineering RemotePlasma Technician
CredentialsBachelor's in Engineering or Physics, certifications in plasma technologyAssociate's or Bachelor's in related field, technical certifications
Work EnvironmentRemote, primarily office-based with occasional lab visitsOn-site in laboratories or industrial facilities
Industry UsageResearch, development, and design of plasma systemsOperation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plasma equipment

Plasma Engineering Remote roles focus on designing and developing plasma systems from a remote location, requiring advanced education and certifications. In contrast, Plasma Technicians work directly on-site to operate and maintain plasma equipment. Both roles are essential in the plasma industry but differ mainly in work environment and responsibilities.

The monitoring will include a) center connectivity / network and associated devices; b) in-center donor processing flows, c) additional inputs to be confirmed that will enable visibility and action at the aggregate or center level.
VCC must provide real-time insights to network/device availability to reduce production impact (network related outages) and enhance plasma collection efficiency. The dashboard must create a foundation of data analytics in support of plasma collection & yield measurement & optimization. Develop a dashboard that captures data within a plasma center, displays high level KPIs and shows analytics data. Key requirements are:
a. Two full stack engineers with the expertise to develop responsive dashboards in React, and with expertise in Java / Spring framework to develop robust and scalable microservices.
b. HTML/CSS/JavaScript expertise to transform high fidelity mockups into UI components.
c. React / Next.js framework for UI development and service integration.
d. CI/CD and DevOps experience - building robust and secure pipelines for seamless deployment.
e. Deploying the application to an AWS instance and infrastructure support.
f. Gitlab repository management experience
Build the UI [WACU3] [MJU4] as per the designs, tie into production APIs which include but are not limited to the Donor Management System (DMS)[WACU5] [MJU6] for donor data, ServiceNow for P1 and P2 ticket visibility, Cisco Thousand Eyes for additional network visibility, MuleSoft as the API integration layer for plasma collection metrics and center floor summary metrics, and Thing Worx UI as the plasma center digital twin equivalent. Develop and deploy the web app, connect current Plasma data sources into VCC, and improve reliability and performance.
Important, needs someone with previous experience in scalable dashboards and they can speak to it, UI/React but full stack experience to well round the team, NEW development and redesign efforts, maintain on cloud (aws), involved in API's, devops, and SQL.
Background on position
  • To develop live dashboard for CSL leadership.
  • Track key metrics from dashboard, operations, how doing in different centers
  • Reports for leadership, division managers, plasma center managers.
  • Rule based will collect metrics e.g. uptime of center.
--Lots of other metrics (may already be in relationship in other databases) may need to calculate other metrics.
  • Build scalable, resilient dashboard driving end to end
  • New development (did POC a version 1) pivoting from scratch redesign look and feel.
  • Deploy and maintain on the cloud
  • Interface with Relational databases
  • Backend not set up yet. Will involve API figuring out data sources.
