RIS I is the delivery of regional IT services to the end user. We offer support of end user devices including desktop, workplace peripherals, and voice and video devices. We support local and campus area networks, including wireless and cable plant.
Join a mission-focused team supporting critical Land Mobile Radio communications infrastructure. We are seeking a detail-oriented LMR System Administrator who brings strong technical troubleshooting, security monitoring, and collaboration skills to help maintain reliable, compliant, and secure communications systems for customer operations.
Description of Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The LMR System Administrator will support the operation, monitoring, security, and continuous improvement of the Land Mobile Radio environment. This role is responsible for maintaining system visibility through logging, reviewing scan outputs, identifying anomalies, supporting security posture and improvements, and partnering with internal tools and security teams to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
This position requires office presence a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered. Work to be performed at a government customer site in Columbia, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, review, and maintain system logging data to support operational monitoring, audit readiness, and security compliance.
  • Support the transfer, retention, and analysis of logs across approved tools and repositories.
  • Review vulnerability scans, monitoring outputs, and system reports to identify issues requiring investigation or remediation.
  • Search for anomalies, unusual activity, configuration drift, and indicators of system or security concern.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis into LMR system health, configuration, availability, and security posture.
  • Partner with the tools team to identify process efficiencies, reporting improvements, and opportunities for automation.
  • Work closely with the security team to review scan results, prioritize findings, and implement approved adjustments or remediation actions.
  • Interface with LMR vendors and service providers to coordinate system updates, patching activities, maintenance windows, and regular technical syncs to ensure security compliance and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Document findings, actions taken, risks, and recommended improvements in support of ongoing compliance and operational reporting.
  • Assist with maintaining secure configurations, monitoring practices, and system administration procedures aligned with customer and enterprise requirements.
  • Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for LMR system issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Highschool Diploma/GED.
  • Experience administering, monitoring, or supporting mission-critical communications, infrastructure, network, or security systems.
  • Working knowledge of system logging, log review, vulnerability scanning, and security monitoring concepts.
  • Ability to analyze scan results, identify trends, and recommend practical remediation steps.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate technical issues across systems, tools, and operational processes.
  • Ability to document technical findings clearly and communicate risks, impacts, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining system availability, compliance, and security posture.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, tools, security, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, service providers, or third-party support teams to manage technical updates, compliance requirements, and recurring operational reviews.
