Job description

Build what moves the world — and keep it moving

At Pennex in Leetonia, OH, our aluminum cast products and extrusions power vehicles, buildings, devices, and supply chains. As a Plant Reliability Technician, you’ll be the guardian of uptime — using deep electromechanical know-how to prevent issues, resolve failures, and continuously improve the systems that make modern manufacturing possible.

Your impact
  • Protect production by responding to urgent calls, diagnosing root causes, and coordinating priorities with plant leadership.
  • Apply multi-craft expertise: hydraulics, pneumatics, combustion, welding, precision mechanics (bearings, couplings, gear reducers, alignments), and electrical systems (power supplies, processors, PCBs, relay logic, PLC troubleshooting).
  • Lead planned maintenance for extrusion presses and auxiliary systems, melting furnaces, casting units, billet saws, and homogenizing furnaces.
  • Run daily condition checks on compressed air (oil levels, filters, dryer operation), cooling water (levels, quality, filtration), and extrusion presses (oil, leaks, billet heaters, cutoff saws, transfers, stretchers).
  • Install or modify equipment to elevate reliability, simplify operation, and strengthen safety.
  • Advance a culture of discipline: complete CMMS work promptly, follow all safety/work rules, and uphold housekeeping standards in the field and maintenance areas.
  • Contribute beyond your job description when the team needs you.
Schedule

Night shift: 6pm–6am with rotating weekends.

QualificationsEducation
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent technical training.
Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant maintenance experience (or a comparable blend of schooling and experience).
  • Background in welding; hydraulic and pneumatic circuit components; relay and PLC logic; bearings and gear reducers; equipment alignment; and piping installation.
  • 5–7 years in manufacturing.
  • 2–5 years electrical experience required; 5–7 years preferred.
Competencies
  • Fluent in reading safety rules, procedures, operating/maintenance instructions, electrical measurement instrumentation, prints/schematics, ladder diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Clear written communication for reports and correspondence.
  • Math proficiency with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Skilled with measuring devices: rulers, micrometers, and more.
  • Ability to navigate problems involving multiple concrete variables.
  • Reliable attendance.
Growth, rewards, and support
  • Medical, dental, vision; disability and life insurance
  • 401(k) with matching contribution
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Competitive wages plus performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Daily pay available
  • Relocation assistance available
Life at Pennex
  • Purpose-driven, friendly, open, respectful culture
  • Values in action: Safety, Integrity, Caring, Growth
  • Tuition reimbursement; expansive employee discount program
  • Wellness incentive program
  • Regular team celebrations and events
