Position Overview

Casa Healthcare is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Technician to join our team to support six skilled nursing and two assisted living facilities in Lake County Indiana. This position is integral to ensuring our facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in long-term care environments and demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as routine equipment utilized in the skilled nursing setting.

Responsibilities

Work in conjunction with the facility-based maintenance personnel to ensure the following

  • Monitor the performance and safety of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in the facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, including air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration units.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Install and upgrade equipment and systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of the facility systems and equipment to identify potential problems.
  • Make recommendations for repairs or replacement of systems.
  • Maintain records of maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
  • Test, install and maintain safety systems, such as fire alarms and extinguishers.
  • Assist with assigned capital improvement projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
Skills/Competencies
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of building systems and maintenance operations.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry systems.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.

  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as painting, wallpapering, drywall repair, and other general repair activities.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant management, with at least 3 years in a long-term care setting.
Working Conditions
  • This position is field based with travel to various Casa facilities as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the role.
