POSITION DESCRIPTION
This Plant Manager role provides leadership and direction in the operations of two plants, within the Architectural Specialties and Gypsum Finishing business segments as part of the CertainTeed Interior Products Group: in alignment with the Company's Vision, Mission Statement and Values.
This position using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Continuous Improvement techniques will assure priority focus on EH&S & Sustainability in accordance with corporate standards, manufacture superior quality, cost efficient products focused on providing an excellent customer experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Enforces safety rules and policies, so that all employees, contractors, and visitors achieve a target of zero TF1/ TF2 accidents.
  • Assures systems are in place to meet Saint-Gobain's waste and energy, sustainability goals.
  • Monitors quality systems to assure all products are shipped within targeted specifications.
  • Interacts with direct reports, Supply Chain, Pre-Construction, and Customer Service to assure preferred service.
  • Recruits and develops a competent plant and staff labor force and skilled professional staff.
  • Directs plant personnel or contractors to maintain all equipment to meet benchmark targets and environmental standards.
  • Must meet cost budgets and cost targets through the efficient use of all resources.
  • Develop and execute on cost savings plans.
  • Meet on-time and lead time goals and objectives.
  • Must assure both plants have full compliance with company internal financial control standards. Inventory control within
  • SAP to be kept separate and accurate between both plants.
  • Must maintain and update both plant business plans and business continuity plans.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • BA or BS degree in either engineering or business preferred; or equivalent technical training in a relevant manufacturing environment that provides a comprehensive knowledge of plant leadership and 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • 0 years of progressive plant leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrate leadership and team building skills.
  • Knowledge of Make to stock, Engineer to Order, and Make to Order environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software: Microsoft Office, Teams, SAP database management..
  • ERP system knowledge in plant management. โ€ข Warehouse and inventory management experience including shipping standards to other countries outside the U.S.

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 years of previous plant manager experience
  • Trained or experience in Lean and World Class Manufacturing Techniques
  • Open to relocation for future assignments
  • WCM Instructors or Lean Manufacturing certification
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Familiar with or trained in ISO standards
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  • Some IT skills would be helpful.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must develop a master business plan for both facilities and how they will function with each other.
  • Continue to grow the plants knowledge of WCM practices and use Continuous Improvement techniques.
  • Must have competency in developing and training direct or indirect reports for advancement.
  • Develop a Capital Budget and assure projects are completed within budget and schedule for both plants.
  • Develop and successfully execute an operational budget for both plants.
  • Interact with sales by visiting customers and assisting preferred quality status.
  • Must be able to handle in a professional manner regulatory agency inspections.
  • Work with the Pre-Construction, Sales Managers, Product Managers, Supply Chain and Technical Services to identify
  • opportunities for sales growth and improvement opportunities.
  • Will assist other plants in enhancing their operations through knowledge or expertise of best practice.
  • Will assist Technical Services and Product Management in running product trials or demonstrations

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Must develop with the assistance of the Financial Services Manager a calendar budget and adhere to the budget while maintaining good internal controls. Assist other plants in fulfilling SAP segregation of duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Supervises all direct and indirect employees (estimated to be 60+ employees in a full capacity utilization mode) in two plants. Will be accountable for meeting operational standards and approved personnel count within company guidelines. Maybe required to fill in as Plant Manager at other finishing facilities during periods of vacancies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes and noise. Hours may vary as necessary to provide proper supervision for plant operations, meeting customer needs and reporting deadlines. Some travel will be required, usually via airplanes and rental cars with no restrictions traveling into Canada.
