Job description


Position: Cheese Packaging Associate

Department: Plant 

Reports to: VP of Operations

Type: Part-Time; Non-Exempt 

Position Summary: To inspect, weigh, measure, package, seal and process cheese for retail following the cheese aging protocol. Using knives, scissors, sealers, cheese cutters, scales, and vacuum sealers. Examine and inspect cheese and packaging materials to ensure packing and quality specifications are met. Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and quality within the work area and surroundings by following all food sanitation practices and using cleaning materials provided. Record and inventory of product, packaging and order information on specified forms and records, including record keeping of samples, temperatures, dates and data as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow cheese aging protocol
  • Measureandweighproduct to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Slicecut and packagecheese.
  • Load products into package processing and sealing equipment.
  • Inspect product after sealing for air bubbles or improper packaging results.
  • Properly label, weigh and stowproduct into boxestoensure consistency in size and shape per specifications.
  • Clean containers,utensilsand work area using cleaning solutions and hand tools provided.
  • Wash,rinseand sanitize walls,tables,and workareasas needed ormandated.
  • Maintain work area, coolers anddry storage areaclan andorganized.
  • Performs receiving,examination, distributionandstoring ofproductsorsuppliesas neededfollowing the established procedures as needed.
  • Monitor product rotationby checking make dates, vat dates, package dates and best bydatesas applicable.
  • FollowALLfoodhandling guidelines and procedures.
  • Complete checklists and charts asrequired.
  • Complete temperature and cleaning logs.
  • Maintaingood record keeping.
  • Operate andmaintainwarehouse vehicles and equipment.
  • Assemble orders usingappropriate BOL’susing consistency and accuracy always.
  • Report any product shortagesimmediatelytothe Manageror Assistant Manager.
  • Obey all safety rules asrequiredand posted in manufacturing facility. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for self-protection, customers, co-workers, andbusinesses.
  • Use logic and reasoning toidentifythe strengths and weaknesses to alternative solutions and conclusions to a problem.

  • Standing for more than 8 hours.

  • The job requires developinga practical working environment along with self-guiding with little or no supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Education or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • 2 years ofpreviouswork-relatedexperience
  • Food Service Certification
