Job Description
Prefabricated Entities, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking the ideal candidate for Plant Director. They will have a strong background in commercial construction, prefabricated manufacturing, and operational efficiency. As this role combines these three key strengths, the Plant Director will manage overall Plant costs and capital improvements. This includes Plant Production Operations, Safety, Planning/Scheduling, Quality, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Logistics/Shipping groups. This role collaborates across the organization with Business Development, Project Development/Pre-Con, Project Management, Field Installation, and Procurement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Assistant Plant Director, and teams of skilled craft trades, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse teams in our Houston production plant
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the department.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Drive a positive, collaborative, and supportive culture in which people are inspired and challenged to achieve greatness.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Lead new business application development and implementation, such as automation, product offerings, and cost management systems.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations' business plan and vision.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports and cost estimates.
  • Establishes and administers the Plant budget.
  • Presents regular performance reports and metrics to senior leadership.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Manage the design and implementation of plant efficiency with changes in operational flow.
  • Support production management by setting near and long-term objectives that underpin our strategic goals and driving a culture of open communication and accountability.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure adoption of Environmental Health and Safety plan within the PAFs.
  • Plant capacity leadership
  • Strategy alignment with other plant directors
  • Ensures alignment with RPL, project teams, third-party prefab entities, and executive leadership to determine feasibility, manage plant capacity, and deliver prefabricated products
  • Partner with RPL and project teams during early project assessment and alignment.
  • Evaluate internal plant capacity and coordinate with Prefab Entity leadership to determine production feasibility.
  • Participate in go/no-go discussions related to plant capability and resource allocation.
  • Advise leadership on alternative solutions when capacity constraints exist.
  • Operational Execution
    • Oversee fabrication operations to ensure adherence to standard Prefab Entities operating procedures.
    • Direct scheduling and production planning to meet project milestones.
    • Manage plant setup, workflow optimization, and resource allocation.
    • Ensure effective event coordination within facility
    • Manage logistics for shipping and material movement.
  • Financial & Cost Oversight
    • Lead prefab estimating processes.
    • Maintain responsibility for cost management and budget performance.
    • Track labor productivity and manage workforce efficiency in coordination with SPW (where applicable).
    • Monitor financial KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure QA/QC standards are implemented and maintained.
    • Establish and enforce safety and regulatory compliance programs.
    • Maintain documentation and reporting standards.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate with:
    • VDC
    • Design
    • Procurement
    • Installation teams
    • Align fabrication schedules with downstream installation requirements.
  • Leadership & Workforce Development
    • Lead plant personnel including fabrication supervisors and support staff.
    • Drive labor management strategies.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • On-time delivery of prefabricated products

Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 20 years of industry-related work experience (commercial construction, prefabrication, TI, MEP, manufacturing).
