Job description

Maintenance Planning Engineer
Augusta, Georgia, United States, Full-Time

Manus works across industries and value chains to accelerate the transition to BioAlternatives better performing and more sustainable versions of complex molecules traditionally sourced from plants, animals, or fossil fuels. Our platform is proven to work across scales, bridging the Valley of Death between lab and manufacturing more efficiently and more reliably to deliver the benefits of synthetic biology today. We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual for a position that will specialize in and lead all laboratory operations at our Boston BioFacility.

Responsibilities:

Safety Focused

  • Ensuring safety is the first goal of getting any task completed.
  • Encouraging the execution of permits and use of all required PPE.
  • Participating in PSSRs, risk assessments, and RCAs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate SDS documentation for all lubricants and chemicals stored in maintenance.

Maintenance Planning

  • Plan maintenance activities across all Manus Bio facilities in Augusta, including but not limited to Sand 81, Fermentation, Utilities, and Waste Treatment.
  • Develop preventative maintenance schedules according to specific machinery/unit operations. Create additional PMs for equipment that is not currently included. Set PM frequency per manufacturer requirements.
  • Ensure that repairs and projects are done in a timely manner and meet the companys expectations.
  • Utilize MaintainX to coordinate planning, and interface with other stakeholders to implement features that will optimize workflow.
  • Obtain and report weekly maintenance KPIs to management and adjust as needed.
  • Schedule weekly planning meetings with the appropriate maintenance, utilities, and production personnel to finalize maintenance plans for the following week.
  • Continued development of equipment BOM structure within MaintainX for all assets currently in use.
  • When necessary or useful, propose and implement schemes or additional software to make planning more efficient.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity to shift activity and schedules with company demand.
  • Expedite work orders and plan projects quickly with changing activity.

Maintenance Supervising

  • Develop, plan and execute the annual Site Shutdown. Supervise maintenance activities according to the shutdown schedule and work closely with production on equipment downtime availability. This includes all necessary equipment inspections, including the following:
    • PRV and pressure vessels, back-flow preventors, and boilers/DAs.
  • Organize internal maintenance projects and ensure work orders reflect the work being performed. Review all critical information with the appropriate personnel prior to performing the work.
  • Develop strong working relationships with vendors/contractors and ensure that all contractor information is accurate in the contractor management system. This includes safety training, COI, and safety records.
  • Maintain maintenance plans and review with designated crews for seamless execution.

Outside Services

  • Ensure that all contracts on service agreements and inspections are updated accordingly. This includes services for the following equipment:
    • Air compressors, cranes and hoists, process dryers (suppression systems), site elevators, lift truck fleet, HVAC and chillers.
  • Acquire any rental equipment necessary to support the production and maintenance departments. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • HVAC, Dehumidifiers, scaffolding, lift trucks, cranes, compressors, and chillers.
  • Perform all facility repairs as needed with the assistance of outside resources. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Underground repairs, clearing of drainage, roofing repairs, sheet metal, and demolition work.

Accounting Procedures

  • Obtain all POs prior to performing services or receiving materials/goods.
  • Maintain a running list of all purchases made, and associated details.
  • Receive all invoices in SAP to meet month-end deadlines.

Documentation/Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate documentation records per existing file structure. Some documents can also be saved on the associated work order in MaintainX for future reference. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Equipment, Instrumentation, service agreements, accounting (quotes, purchase orders, invoices), projects, safety (PSSRs, risk assessments, RCAs), and facility repairs.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmospheres. Exposure to harsh conditionssuch as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperaturesfor short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear. The ability to lift and carry 10 pounds on a regular basis is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-5 years' experience in maintenance planning
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, vendors, contractors and other business contacts.
  • Must comply with Manus Bios core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintaining sound relationships among and with employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in cGMP environments.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (SAP, FIIX, etc.)
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft applications (word, excel, power point, etc.)
  • Experience in biochemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, energy, oil and gas industries are preferred.
